I'm not sure I follow - there are a lot more differences than just the track width. :) -
So when think at this way
Does not when compared normal e30 (51mm suspension bars), the only difference is in front 5mm track width the difference in front.Leave a comment:

you won't hit the spring perch with stock diameter tires. a 17" wheel isn't any closer to the perch than a 15" - unless you went with a taller overall diameter. but 215/40 is pretty much the same as stock.
it's the tube itself that the tire is really close to with the stock wheels.Leave a comment:

Ok, only problem is that spring plate at front as you said.
My buddy has some the tires on offer. need to look at what it sizes hi has and to try fit.
I take some pic, in front and back, wheels turnet left/right and back. So as you can see how silly the wheels seems to is left inside
I'll try a few things when I get the tiresLeave a comment:

a 17" wheel with the stock offset is going to look pretty goofy. also, the stock wheels are really close to the struts - I don't know that there's really 10mm to go wider there without lowering the offset.Leave a comment:

Ok, thank for update.
I finally found pictures of the old ix. Tires are 205/40-17, rims 7x17 ET35 and-60mm lower than stock. Check that back wheel. I measured when the owned this, as back would have been able to put in the back 15-20mm spacer would fit rotate. I do not quite remember the front.Last edited by litu; 03-13-2013, 03:48 AM.Leave a comment:

Stock iX weaves are 15x7 +41 with a 205/55-15
The 17x7 +40 or +42 with a 215/40-17 will take up almost the identical space.
The only differences are 1mm offset, pulling the wheel inwards 1mm; and the tire is 10mm wider in total.
I cant imagine that there isn't enough room for 5mm of tire extra on either side and 1mm offset difference. Meaning, I should be able to run the +40 offset, without any clearance issues.
Looking at the stock wheels, there is room for ~10mm less of offset to push the wheels out. So I should be looking for the 35mm range and if needed use a small spacer to fine tune. Or just run the 35mm wheels.
Anyone currently have an iX running 17's to chime in?
An acuatal picture for reference.

Your 17x7 +35 wheels are pretty much perfect for an iX. Mount them with 215/40/17s, put the 5mm spacer on the rear, done.Leave a comment:

I am soo stupid. Sorry:oops::oops: .I remember that i told those are coming in IX:shock::shock:....
A slight misunderstanding here
. But still I thought to put these here
Ok. Shit this is not nice job, very difficult choise right tyres . -
-Some one use in ix like this tyre+wheels option 17x8 et30 w/ 215/40. He said to me not problem to use 215/40 at those rims and stock suspension parts.
-And here is a nother option 8x17 et35, 215/40/17 all round+ -40mm lowering, still fit rotation, no proplem.
HOW about 205/50 are there any better choise??.
Becouse 205/40 tyres whit 7x17 ET35 rims is not option for me, my old ix had those tyres and -60mm lowering, in road use, those are terrible to drive. Only positive is good feel on the road. And I measured, so the back would have been able to put a 20mm spacer and in front of more than 10-15 mm spacer.
I think I'll change the shock absorbers at the same time + some different springs so i get liittle more height than stock and a little harder platformLast edited by litu; 03-12-2013, 11:08 AM.Leave a comment:

17x7 ET35 with a 20mm spacer will not work
for a 215/40 ET35 is pretty close to working out of the box. you might need a 3mm spacer up front, which doesn't require extended lugs or to be hubcentric. but I'd try it as is first and adjust as neccesary.Leave a comment:

I but these on here
To answer my guestion.
A get some info. To put 215/40-17 tyres. In my ix
And here some other thought for tyre sizes
And here is answer or throwing answerI have a set of ESM BBS Reps from my vert. Staggered setup rear-16x9 et20
front- 16x7.5 et20. Will this fit my IX on stock suspension? If so what tires size (with meat) can i wrap these with?
In that another topic deals with theseNope. iXs need higher offsets, those are for RWD E30s.Leave a comment:

Ok thank for more info for me.
And the answer came on that in another topic in here R3V forum

rims specs is 7x17ich ET35. Does it fit rotate? 205/50, 205/55, 215/40, 215/45??
I thought I put behind the 5mm spacer, because the front is 5 mm widerstand track width.
I have experience with 205/40 tires, not a good runLast edited by litu; 03-10-2013, 10:53 AM.Leave a comment:

for better fitment/flush looks look for offsets in the ET30 range. especially as the wheels get wider, the offset needs to get lower. 17x7.5 ET30 or 33 would be perfect without having fender rubbing issues.
215/40 would be the smallest I'd run. 205/40 are basically undersized rubber bands. a 225/40 would be slightly taller than stock but would fill out the fender gap nicely.
avoid anything in the ET20 or less range, regardless of width - unless you really want to run undersized tires on oversized wheels, then have at her.Leave a comment:

The stock offset for the iX was 41mm. I can't imagine there is room to push them out another 20mm with a spacer. Perhaps the person who have you that advice didn't understand the iX has a different offset than the rest of the e30's.
Thanks for your input. Maybe we should start an iX specific wheel thread where people post what wheels they have, along with the wheel specs, tire size, and any modifications required for fit.
Enjoy your weekend.
