    kumho vs yokohama

I'm currently running Yokohama Avid V4S on my car, 205/55r15 and need to replace 2 of them. I'm considering getting 4 new Kumho Ecsta AST in 225/50r15. Should I stick w/ the yokos or try the Kumhos? Its mainly a street car, not a dd but I'm hoping to get a little track time in this summer.

Sorry I don't have an answer for you but I would love to see pics of your current setup if possible.

This also isn't a direct answer, but I had those Kumhos on my 2002 in I think 185 trim and they worked great for DD street only use. They seemed to wear pretty well, too.

I just put a set of the Kumhos on my car a few weeks ago in 205 50 15. I haven't had my car on the track yet, but for street use I don't have any complaints with them.

I have kumho ecsta le's on my M3 and really like them. 200wt, they are pretty quiet when rolling and stick nicely.
          Much wow

Here's a picture of the car as it sits w/ the 205/55R15

I probably should add the rims I'm running are BBS rz et33 15x6.5 (Corrado wheels). They might get switched to a different set of wheels I just picked up BBS look alikes made in Italy 15x7 et13. Yeah, they're ugly and need some love. They should be getting chem stripped tomorrow and my plan is either black or nagaro silver spokes w/ polished lips and ridges. We shall see how motivated I am

The 205/55 and 225/50 puts me @ 23.9" diameter which is stock for the car. I was just on Tirerack.com and typed in 225/45r15 tires and found a much better selection of performance tires. Is the 0.9" going to cause an issue for me or should I just stick w/ the 225/50?

              I'd go with the Yokos.

The difference in diameter will work fine if you go smaller. It looks a bit funny, though. People often try to offset that by going even lower, but that's bad for suspension geometry and even worse for oil pans.

Tires are expensive. If you only need 2 Yokos to complete your setup, and they've worked good so far, get those.

I'd like to get a tire that's a little stickier than what I have. Thanks for the input guys
