I know BMW's 15x7 for the E30 4-lug is ET24, but is this ideal from the perspective of A) suspension geometry/slip angle, most responsive/neutral/best feedback or B) best lateral grip or C) a compromise of both A and B. Perhaps it's A, then a compromise higher clearance tolerance.
I may be using spacers to adjust ET on a set of wheels and was ponder whether there is a "better" ET than 24 and if I couldn't make 24 whether it would better to be higher or lower. Would a higher offset be beneficial at the expense of clearance that I don't need anyway? (seems higher offsets are prefered given the higher offset for narrower wheels, and a trend to bias toward less inside clearance with increasing width) or would it be better to go with a lower offset for the wider stance and higher latteral G, keeping in mind that that would require a thicker spacer.
Do spec series competitor run the lowest offset allowed and fitting?
Thanks for any input.
