What offset do I need to shot for? I really don't understand offset.

e30's (m3 excluded) are 4x100 lug pattern and offset changes with wheel width, see offset calculator here: click me

for various offset suggestions with different widths, tires, and suspension for no rub issues, there has to be 100 posts titled something like "will this offset and tire width fit?"
