    General grabber at2 on e28

so I've got stock bottlecap 14' with a 22e offset. people on mye28.com kinda just shot the idea down. Hoping there's more crazies like me on R3v. I want to do something along the lines of this

I want to fit the general grabber at2's which are 27/8.5/14 Apparently the widest tire that will fit on the e28 is 8' on the front and the rears can fit 10' on the rear. I'm willing to roll the fenders and get wheel spacers for the front end. I'm worried about the overall height of the tire that will rub either and the front of the rear fender where the back door fits or the back of the front fender near the front door.

Boo the General Grabber. What not the BFGoodrich All Terrain? They have a 195/75/14 size with 25.5" OD and fits a 5-6" rim; section width is 7.7" on a 5.5" rim. If your rim is 6" wide, the tire would be more like 8" probably. Comes in raised white letter too, would look gnarly and retro on your E28.

They would make for great winter tires. I have AT2 Grabbers on my 4runner right now. They'll be loud as shit compared to normal All seasons or winter tires.

I didn't even know they made them in those sizes! but the general grabber AT2 is $95 a piece compared to $115 a piece on tire rack which after all 4 is a $80 difference. But yes They will mainly be seeing snow which the surveys say they're about the same on tire rack.

I want to be using them as winter tires! I don't really care how loud they are as my exhaust and blower motor already borderline make me deaf. I'm just curious if anyone knows if they will fit. I'd rather not spend $500 on them then find out there's a major clearance issue

What size of rim are you running them on? You could use this tool http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp to figure out if they will fit. Gives you kind of a rough idea of if they will fit. You just have to plug in the numbers for the original tire and wheel and compare them to the new size.

Sweet I'll definitely check it out. I want to be running them on 6.5 wide 14 inch bottlecaps.

General grabber at2 is a very good tire in the snow and quiet on the street compared to other aggressive tires. Yes they will be alot louder than normal commuting car style tires. I have almost 20k on my set of 33s on the taco.

Sweet the Taco man good to hear. I'm going to call around today. A couple guys I work with used to be in the tire business, they told me to order them from discount tire because they will sell tires below cost just to get a sale.

well went to discount tire and told them that treaddepot.com wanted $95 a piece. Discount originally wanted $113 a piece and they knocked them down the $95 without questioning it (should have told them they were $50 ) All said and done it was $483 mounted and balance and shipped from ohio not too shabby.

haha I would have but I wanted the oversize tire look. They were also a good $20 more per tire and most reviews said the grabbers were equivalent or better than the BFG's

Well I got them in and mounted them yesterday. There is rubbing on my front rally armor mudflaps which doesn't concern me much, as long as the body/tire aren't chewing each other up. They only rub during really hard braking and really tight turns. No spacers or anything cleared the strut towers by a 1/4 inch or more. Probably will rub if the wheels are turned and front suspension is bottomed out. The rears have no clearance issues at all. I drove it through about 12-14 inches of snowy slush real heavy crap on a hill, then stopped to see if I could get stuck. They pulled me right out no problem. I think in the future I will be getting a 3.25 maybe a 4.10 diff to get some more torque. But as of right now not too bad!

Stock e28 tires on the left. Stock e34 middle. New General Grabber AT2's on the right.
