    Tire pressure monitoring system, retrofit?

So theres a couple of aftermarket TPMS kits out there made to retrofit a monitoring system to vehicles that never had it. This one by Orange Electronics displays each tire's pressure and temperature, plus the user can set a low and high pressure warnings. OEM systems dont do any of that; they only give a low pressure warning at a predetermined psi.

One of my tires went flat while on the freeway and the sidewall got ruined. TPMS would have saved me from having to buy a new tire.

So has anybody tried one of these kits? Heard good or bad things? One downside looks to be that the sensors have non-replaceable batteries...

I have seen them used in E30 racecars. Seemed to work as advertised
