Anyone Running 50 sries 16" Tires

I was wondering if anyone is running a 225/50/16 on the back and maybe the same thing on the front or 215-205/50/16's or any mix match of big back smaller front with a lowered suspension and had their opinion on handling and maybe some pics. I have 225/50/16's on the back of my car now and I like them, but the front has 205/45/16's and I don't like them imo. I was thinking of going 205 on the front but I do not want a hotrod raked look like you would see on a Camaro or El Camino (like I have also lol). The 225/50 and 205/50 show on the scale to have a 3/4" difference but idk if it would be noticeable. Also what tires do you guys recommend, I am going to stay fairly economy but idk about Nankangs or the rest of the $50 tires, they may be good but idk.

215/50 and 225/50 are a bit big and really won't look good. I'd stick with 205/50 which is correct sizing.

      Agreed. ^

For the money, the Continental DW is tough to beat. The Nitto NeoGen is also pretty good.

Just because you have 50's on one axle doesn't mean the other axle has to be 50's. If you're running staggered widths you have to stagger the aspect ratio as well.

Right on I understand that, but I want to keep the same tires all the way around, rephrase same brand and model. And the one's I have picked out don't do a 225/45 that is the same as the 215 or 205.

I will stick with the 205's then, that's what the gut says and I will have less headaches with fitment and the fender virginess lol. I see no reason a 205 would not handle superbly given these cars are small and light.

I run a 225/45/16 front and rear, a 50 profile would be too much as the 45's fit perfect (in my opinion)
Unfortunately tires that are 225/45/16 are getting few and far between and are not super cheap, so it depends on what you are looking for in a tire.
Edit: You can get a set of Dunlop Direzza ZII in 225/45/16 for $552

Ive had 205/50/16 nankang ns2 on my car for approx 30k miles. I flipped the fronts and should get atleast another 10-15k out of them. The last five were with my cammed m52 swap as well. Before i originally bought them i was skeptical. Not anymore.

Very good info from everyone, and I really appreciate the pics. I have decided to go with a 195/50 16 then later on go with a 205/50 15. The wheels I currently have have a nasty Honda offset and to run a 205 or better in the 50 sidewall I will have to 12mm space the front and do a decent roll on the backs. I am going to snag some 15" RS knock offs or find a good used set.

Thanks - as of 11/20/2014 the list of 225/45-16 tires available is at looking grim.
