    Wheel Repair : Worth It?

For those who run or own(ed) repaired wheels, were they ever are as new? Long term reviews? Wheel weaker? Issues?

I have a set of ACS Type 1s. They were sold as straight and no bends. That is not the case. One is terribly bent. Wheel repair shops say all four can be salvaged, repaired. I am trying to decide if I ship these things back and keep looking or will I be happy with repaired wheels.

I just had a bent ACS Type 1 repaired. Actually I've bent almost every wheel on every car I've owned (thanks to NYC potholes). As long as the shop who's doing the work is reputable and the damage isn't too bad, I don't see any drawbacks at all. I've even had cracks on my BBS CH's yrs back welded and bends taken out....drove like that for yrs, wo a hitch.

      Me too!

I bought a set a while back for a resto car and now that I have started driving it a little, found TWO were bent. The seller, of course, claims he never drove on them and that they came off a friend's car... I got the good news today courtesy of a road force balancer. At least the shimmy wasn't my imagination, or worse, a broken car. These must be some soft wheels. I have offered the good wheels to a couple people as singles to compete a set, and the bent ones as spares. Time to hunt for new wheels, not ACS.

Guys; I had a set of ACSs that I got repaired. The type 1s are know as a soft wheel, therefore easier to repair and balance.

        Good luck with the repairs.

Hhehhe. So I should repair them?

Of course I found a set of 16s in this time for low dough. Problem is, it seems you never know what you will get. Lack of integrity rampant in the used car parts. /rant

You shouldn't have an issue if done properly. I have run multiple repaired wheels without any issues.
