17x9 245/45

how bad are you guys rubbing? I saw a bunch of u running this size and it looks aesthetic and practical but I can't turn my wheels more than 50% without hitting wheel well. do u guys jus tout stoppers on your power steering rack or just let it rub? Ive always been about function this doesn't seem 100% practical unless I'm missing something

The overall diameter of that tire is way too large. It is 25.7 inches, and stock is something around 24 inches. You will have massive rubbing issues no matter what you do.

Sorry but I haven't seen a "bunch of us" running that size. Maybe you're thinking of a 245/40/17 tire. That size would also be too tall but much better than a 45 sidewall. A 245/35/17 would be ideal but I don't know if that's even available anymore.

EDIT*** Sorry guys. I am running 245/40/17. 245/35/17 would be ideal but unfortunately there are a small amount of tires that run that size.

i could go with a 235/40/17 but want the extra rubber. this is 245/35/17 that should work.

assuming i would want to stay with the 245/40. do i just let it rub? or anyway to make it stop just before its about to rub

I ran a 235/40 on my old S50 E30. It was 5 lug with 17x9's.

We could better solve you problem if you'd share wheel specs.

of course. wheel specs are 17x9 +22 offset. I am running 12mm spacers to clear the strut. I could probably get away with a 10mm but don't see that making it much of a different. Tires are BFG sport-comp2 245/40/17.

Rear is totally fine. Front hits the wheel well in the front and in the back. I was running offset bushings before and i wasn't able to turn more than 20%. Now I am running oem centered m3 bushings and can turn just over 50%. Maybe 60% before it rubs. I don't have my wheel well liner in so once i put that in Im scared ill get even a hair less.

So you're running 245/40/17s in the front?

I didn't think that was possible.

Did I read correctly you're also running these in the rear without issue?

Any one think that that size will work on a 17x8 0et rim under early fenders?

You need to determine the minimum amount of spacer required to clear the strut. In your case it should be about 7mm. On a 17x9 et 15 should clear the strut. All this is not going to make much difference. I'm also running 245/40/17's and have the same issues you describe. It is something i expected and i live with it.
