    BEST summer performance tires....

Hey guys, I sold my e30 and bought a e34 M5. It needs some new tires. Im not too sure what tire I should get. I was thinking BF Goodrich sport comp 2s, or Continental Extreme contract DW, or Hancook Ventus V12 evo 2. Ive done some research and these are what i can find to be the best tires without spending alot a obscene amount. Im pretty aggressive driver, tires don't usually last long. What have you guys been having luck with and think is a great tire.....

    thanks again guys

I got 18k miles out of a set of DWs on my E39. I got 38k out of the DWSs.

I hated the Continental DW's on my M5, the sidewalls are ridiculously soft and you can feel it on such a big car. For cheap tires, I prefer Bridgestone RE760 Sports

BFG Rivals or Dunlop ZII Star Specs.

I've been in love with my toyo proxes r1rs. My e30 is fairly light as some people have said they tend to wear fast. Yet I'm at 15k miles with probably 10k left in them and I'm putting down 475whp. I don't tend to do too much highway driving though.

I think he's looking for higher treadwear than those. The tires he is looking at are like 300+ treadwear and you guys are talking about 200 and under. R1R's would last about 5k miles or less on a 3700 lb e34 m5. I do think they are awesome tires for an e30 though

I am shopping for 200 treadwear tires at the moment, and while the Rivals seem like the obvious choice there is definitely an issue with the construction. My friend has had a set of these on his car for ~5k miles and they are literally falling apart. The tread has cracked all the way across on every one. This is a widespread issue and BFG has said that it is strictly cosmetic, but it's definitely not confidence inspiring.

On my E39 I thought the balance between grip and ride comfort on the DWs was pretty good, since it was/is a DD. I doubled my mileage with the DWSs, though with the compromise of a slightly harsher ride and a bit less grip.

                This x1000000.

I had these on my E34 touring and while they gripped very well, they were crazy soft. I was running 42psi in them just to make them reasonable.

I've got these and so far they are great:

They are technically an all season, but rate equal or better to the DW's and many other "performance" tires. I wanted something for the dry and wet, no snow, and they have been awesome. More details on them here:

Lola is currently wearing Falken Azenis RT-615Ks. They've seen an HPDE at NCMMP, a couple of AutoX days and several Dragon runs; so far I'm very happy with them.

Im actually not sure what im looking for, I just didnt want to have to replace my tires every summer. Ill admit i drive pretty aggressively and like a idiot. I like the BFG rivals, Ive heard alot about them. I was thinking maybe the sport comp 2s cause they are simular just longer tread wear. Where i live theres a bunch of guys that take their cars to autocross and im thinking i might do that a couple times. This is my daily driver, so im still not sure. Id like something that will last me a couple summers.

i have bridgestone re11s on my e30. i've only ran on them for one summer but they are stupid sticky and seem to be wearing pretty well. seem to be more affordable than both the direzza ZII and the BFG rivals with the same or better reviews.

my roommate also had bridgestone re760s on his STI and they were really good. he just sold the car so i can't comment on longevity
