Best tire size for 16X8 et15

I have a 1989 325i with a H&R sports with bilstein shocks i currently run 205/40/16 and their is alot of wheel gap i want to run 225/45/16 to hopefully fill in the gap a bit more but im worried about the offset can i run a 225/45/16 on a 16x8 et15 rim without rubbing issues or would i be better off running a 205/50/16

    Thanks,Ryan

225/45/16 is perfect, I ran a 225/55/16 on my 16x8 et20 Rota slipstreams without clearance issues, depends on suspension setup you will be solid with 225/45.

Were you riding on stock suspension with the 225/55/16

im running h&r sport springs so your setup really doesn't apply to mine i may go coilovers in the future but thats down the road and you mentioned you had et20 so would et15 not affect fitment also ?

          Thanks

You're over thinking it, H&R sports are slightly dropped and H&R race would clear too. MY car is a lot lower than H&R race springs and still cleared a much larger tire, et15 or et20 will not make contact. Get 225/45/16 and you will be all good.

i have 225/50/16 potenza re11s and they rub pretty bad in the rear even with a roll. however 225 wide re11s are about the same as a 245 wide standard tire.

225/45/16 will be fine. even if they rub a bit a slight roll will fix it easily.

Heres is the car on stock rims and a 195/65/14 is pretty much the same size as a 225/45/16 right so do you think I could get away with a 225/50/16 ? I want to fill in the wheel gap as much as possible without issues

Have you looked at the suspension/ride height thread started by Josh aka Janderson?

That is a good way to look for your combo maybe every option you have done.

225/50/16 will look too tall for the E30. I don't recommend it.

                    Stick with 205/50 or 225/45.

I run 205/50's on my 16x8's, and I'm currently almost slammed on Raceland's (Not my doing, PO put em in). I think my offset is about 15 or so, I don't recall. Fenders are slightly pulled and I never really run into an issue.
