    Powdercoat vs paint - wheels

I'm looking to black out a pair of chrome wheels. While I'd like to avoid pumping a bunch of cash into it, am I wasting my time with paint and just save up for powder coating?

    thanks y'all.

getting anything to stick to chrome is tough. i think to paint or powdercoat chrome wheels, you have to strip the chrome. which isn't cheap or easy.

Sandblasting them would do the trick, or if you wanted to do it yourself, sanding them will help. I'd use an etching primer if you end up painting.

I've painted all of the wheels I've refinished. Although its nowhere near as tough, its cheap and easy to touch up yourself. You do have to do a lot of prep work to get it right, though.
