    spray can clearcoat on wheels??

    spray can clearcoat on wheels???
hey I am trying to use a spray can style clear coat on aluminum wheels... parts of the wheels are chromed... and when I spray them with very light coats over and over they remain grainy and rough looking and feeling... likke a light dusting of sand lol. Any tips for how to clearcoat with a can ... its a polyurathane. idk i have gone through two cans ahaha and have only one wheel looking nice cause i keep taking it off after when get pissed off. any ideas/tips/alternate plans greatly appreciated!!!

I have found that unlike paint cans, clearcoat should be sprayed with heavier wet coats to achieve a smooth glossy finish. If you spray light coats, you will get that rough texture.

I'm not a paint pro though, so my method could be completely wrong...

The problem with applying heavy coats of spray can clear is that it can tend to yellow and crack.

For better atomization, put the can in warm water for 15 minutes before you spray. Heats the paint up and makes it spray better. Make sure the water is not too hot or else you risk exploding the can. You want it hot, but cool enough to comfortably put your hand in it.

If the humidity is high where you are doing this - it can cause a problem. Do rattle can work in lower humidity for a better result.
