    Cleaning 'caps

First off, sorry if im posting in wrong section. Anyways, I was wondering if there any special tools or formulas you can buy to clean bottle caps. Ive been cleaning them with a freaking toothbrush  and it takes forever. Anyone have any suggestions to make this process faster and easier. Thanks in advance.

I think I used meguires wheel cleaner that was really acidic, you are only supposed to leave it on for 30 seconds or so but I would let it soak for a couple minutes. It will probably trash the rims after a while but they were bottle caps and I figured that would look better cleaner.

With that said, no. Toothbrush is about as good as you can get. Terrible, terrible, rims to clean.

Armor All wheel cleaner and a big thick bristly brush. Soak them good and scrub like hell - you have to work a little around the spokes, but they are still easier than cleaning weaves.

I have an easier time with weaves than caps...
Although my dad weaves are 15", so that might make em a tiny bit easier

When I had my 325i there was cosmoline all over them. I ended up using steel wool to take it off, it was the only thing that would even come close to getting it. Probably real hard on the wheel, but like I said before, they are just bottle caps.

i bought my car with super super dirty weaves, and i cleaned them with a wheel scrubber brush thing, had soft bristles on two opposing sides, while the other two sides had a green scrub pad-like material. picked it up at pepboys, that dreaded place. Oh, and i used degreaser concentrate before scrubbing, and let it sit for 5 mins before scrubbing the shit outta it. Worked pretty good, and it was quick too. no so pita as using a toofbrush.

Wash the wheels with a wheel cleaner and wheel brush. This will not get them clean, but will be a good start. Then take a decent cleaner/wax and go over them by hand with a rag you do not care about. Not only will this take off most of the remaining brakedust, but will keep brake dust from sticking to the wheels for months. The brake dust should just wash off with soap and water, and when it does not it is time to rewax the wheels.

Get a good dedicated wheel cleaner (not super clean or simple green) and a boars hair wheel brush. If you wash your wheels on a regular basis this should solve the problem. I have weaves and I can get nearly every corner clean with just a brush.

EDIT - You can also clean them then wax them. This will make them a lot easier to clean and they will look better. Time consuming, but worth it in the long run.
