Most people will point you to 205/50/16 and there are a couple 215 tires out there, azenzis are sadly discontinued in that size though.

on my 17s I run 205/40, occasionally 215/40 if tire selection is scarce.Comment

I really want another set of F1's. The only size them come in for 15's are 195, but have TONS more grip then the Kumhos i have on the Kopis. There are a few sizes close to what you listed; 205/50, 205/55, 215/40, 215/55 and 225/50. None work out perfectly, except the 205/50's. At $121 each, im still going for it. These tires are simply awesome.
Tire Calc. First being OE, Second are Kopis.

hankook makes a 215/45/16 for just shy of a bill a tire, some people like the ventus: http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...63&rd=16&ar=45Comment

If you want ultimate grip get the 215/45-16 falken azenis rt-615, they are cheaper than the Hankooks. And I think I remember the falkens run wide so I think you'll have more than enough grip. I recommend the hankooks as well, very good tire, a softer sidewall than the azenis but excellent grip and response nonetheless.318is -gone-

The 615's look like scary tires. But for around $98 each i may give it a shot. Tred wear is an issue. Ive had these F1's on my eurobaskets for about 16k and they are just about bald, still have some tred showing, but maybe only 2/32". None the less, thats pretty good from an all out summer tire, and i by no means baby the car.

If BMW speedometers are known to read a bit fast, wouldn't the 3.7% difference with the 225/50/16 make it pretty close to being accurate? IMO, this sounds like it may be the best way to go for the widest tire. Also, check ebay. They have great deals on tires.Comment

I think tires with a smaller OD than stock look ridiculous on e30s. If something, I'd rather go up a a few tenths of an inch than down.
I recommend you go with a 225/45 RS2, albeit the 215/45 rt615s have the same tread width. 225/50 is unnecessary.87 325IS - Delphin Grey/Cardinal
