What to do with snow tire steelies?

    Hey guys,
I've got silver steelies (14") for my snow tires. I'd like to do something to make them a little more aesthetically pleasing, however I'm not quite sure what direction to go in. Obviously, hubcaps would be the easiest choice, but I'm thinking of something else...

What I'd love to do would be polish the lips (which are actually decently large), and paint the centers black. What do you guys know about polishing (time/cost needed, recommended products, etc)?

Will polishing be an issue, since the wheels are steel, and not aluminum? I've seen a ton of VW guys polish "widened-steelies," but I'm not sure what the lips are made of in these wheels.

Lastly, I think part of being polished is a lack of clear coat... Will this be a problem (like rust and things) as a snow tire application?

    Thanks

They are snow wheels, why waste your time as they will be covered in crud a week after you put em on?

I run mine with the hubcaps on them. Yo Bling. Seriously they are just winter wheels.

Eh I guess hubcaps are the way to go. I'm not looking for bling, but if I can improve their appearance with little time/money, then why not?

Appearance then get some mud flaps and save your paint work. Or get some vw corrado 15x7 steelies in silver and run snows on those. They look good.
