I have a set of 16s. But require a spacer to clear front strut. If I was to stay a 16 what does the offset need to be to clear the front. I have looked at the wheel figment thread and I don't understand what offset needs to be to clear.

Without knowing the width of your wheel it is impossible to answer the question.
It's like asking how big a box is given just one measurement.

The required offset wholly depends on the actual rim width as they're directly related. You HAVE to know the rim width in order to determine which offsets will work.
I've found it more accurate to measure the actual backspace of the wheel instead of relying on offset specs, since backspace is a more reliable measurement when trying to keep the inner sidewalls clear of the front strut tubes and rear trunk walls.
Whatever wheels you have now have too much offset since they hit the strut.Randy Walters
