Has anyone made use of the 16x8 Rota Slipstream wheels from the GB?

I had my friend Chris' wheels at my house (he auto-x'd on my stock weaves on Sunday), so I threw one on the rear of my car, just to see if the GC's stiffness would help with the rubbing.

With unrolled fenders and 475lb/in springs, they still rub accelerating hard AND turning at the same time, or just cornering hard. It is exclusively on the stupid unrolled half of the 88+ fender though, so a simple good roll of the lip is all you would need for clearance. No rubbing on the front.

Looking at the pics, I'm starting to wonder if my lack of rubbing is more due to the narrowness of Ziex's than the width of the wheel. Hmmm...guess we'll see when I try to shoehorn on 225/50/15 RT-615's when they surface.

Can you tell where on the fender its rubbing?

I'm convinced I can get 245's on mine, maybe the lip isnt rolled enough on the forward part of the wheelwell?

Oh yeah, like I said, it's right at the middle of the wheel well where BMW stopped rolling the fender from the factory. Fold that bad boy in and you're good to go.

Mystikal, what kind of rubber were you running with that?

I'm still not sure whether flat black or gunmetal would look better with my alpineweiss E30. Jessica only has flat black in right now.

Nexen 3000's. Not sure if you guys have those down there, but apparently they suck (they're not my wheels/tires).

              16x8 + 245/45R16?

I think I'm going to get the 15x8's, because I highly doubt 245/45 RA1's will fit the 16's.

My thoughts exactly (and why I didn't order a set). They extended the hubs instead of pushing the lip out. This actually has the annoying side effect of sinking the bolts WAY into the wheels. It's a little awkward at first to get a socket in there without marring the wheel.

That's my main complaint, mounting these with a long socket and a socket wrench feels like juggling a couple bars of soap in the prison shower... I feel like 1 little slip up and I'm screwed.

let me tell you, dont bring new rims to a crap shop for an alignment.

i bought new rims with rubber, balanced from discounttire (they did a great job on the balance) and i had installed a suspension drop the same time. brought the car in for alignment and they messed up the balance and marred up my rims pretty bad.

Like hell, yeah. Even with 225 street tires they just barely squeeze by.

But dammit man, no non-competitive E30 needs that much rubber and you know it. Sticky 225's is more than enough.

What makes you think my E30 is non-competitive? I'm going to go all out with auto-x next summer. This isn't for my street setup BTW. I may just go with 17's next spring.
