It's time to replace old all-season Potenzas on my E30. I moved to the Seattle area this summer, so I'm not sure what kind of tires would be good to run in the winters out here. I have a set of dedicated snows on stock 14s, but those things are pretty slippery in the wet. What are you guys running for tires year-round? I'd like something with decent performance in the summer months. Will I crash my coupe running Yoko S-Drives or Direzzas in the cool and rainy months up here? 205/55/15 or similar preferred.

We bought a set of Kumho ECSTA 4X II from Tire Rack in 15". The II is apparently a big improvement over the first edition. Not a ton of choices in a 15" these days without going DOT track tires or similar high performance.

In a search for tires too.
I just ate through a set of 4X II s (205/55/15) and do not plan on buying them again. At first I though they were great wet or dry. Quiet compared to other tires. However, after eating through the top layer they had horrible grip in the wet and started to get a lot of under steer.
I liked the Dunlop Direzza ZII Star spec (205/50/15). Had great grip wet and dry all the way to the cord. A little noisy. However, they hydroplaned like crazy. So, you really have to watch out for standing water if you run them year around.
The reviews are keeping me away from all the other tire options, so I'm not sure what to do either.
Has anyone been able to get RE003s here?Comment

I was leaning towards the 4X IIs. Sucks to hear they turn to shit once the tread wears down."Have no small wrecks. If you are going to loop out and hit something, hit it hard." — H.S.TComment
