Should I put a coat of clear over the entire wheel? including the lip.

I like the look of naked polished lips. If you clear them, they'll be maintenance-free (other than washing). If not, you'll need to buff them occasionally.

Coating polished aluminiun is a bit risky, most clear coats tend to peel off from smooth metal surface.

After removing clearcoat I polished my fondmetals last summer, and I buff them twice a year and then just wax them with quality car wax, in good weather they keep shiny a couple of months and dull slowly. Remeber to wipe brake dust often or it'll stick to wax.

Your Borbets look 7,5" wide? I need to machine a bit of metal from my 16*9" borbet a's because of curb rash. Then I'll polish the lips using car as a lathe and an air drill to drive the polishing pad.

15x7 is stamped on the wheels so thats what i assume they are.

I am planning on stripping the finish off the entire wheel, painting the center Wurth silver and clearcoating it, then polishing or buffing the lip (no clearcoat).

It should be done in the next two weeks and i will post results.
