    Tire sizes: 205/50/16 or 225/45/16 on 16x8

    Hi all,

I’ve done a bit of research here and it seems not many people have a solution for my specific scenario. And if they did, it was years ago.

I understand that most people recommend a 225/45/16 tire, however the options for those are few and they are expensive. 205/50 are much easier to find and are and more affordable. Which brings me to my next question.

The car is a 90 early mode vert with Koni suspension and h&r sport springs. Slightly lowered, nothing crazy and is sitting on bottle caps. I want to get either 16x8 +15 or 16x8 +20 all the way around. The car has early model wheel arches which i understand are bigger in the back. Would I be okay on the 205/50? Ideally, I’d like a squared setup. I thought about a 16x9 in the rear but i also have 20mm spacers if needed i could use to push the back out. But I’d rather not.

    Thanks!!

    I have 225 45 16
    16x7.5 et 20
    16x9 et 15
    I would rock 225 all day on a 8

There’s a slight hill on the front right tire
    I’m tucking as well.

Wanted to add I have no spacers and I used to have 205 50 but looks ugly compared to the 225 45

Nexen it’s like 76 each. Can use that to see your spacing for your fenders, don’t want to spend top dollar for your tires you can’t use

That does look really good. How low are you or what are you lowered on? Wheel specs?

I’m leaning toward pulling the trigger on a set of 16x8 +20 xxr 531 with 205/50/16. If anyone has pictures of a similar setup/firmware I’d really appreciate it

^ does it rub if you use the 225 and is that on the inside or out?
