    studed/studless winter tires

I am thinking about getting some winter tires after I get a cheap set of stock wheels. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the hakkapelitta tires? Also does anyone know if studed tires are legal in Ohio? If you have had experience how loud are they compared to others.

    Thanks
    DJ

I have Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50s on stock bottle caps in size 185/70-14 and they are really good. More than enough considering the type of winters we have here in Ohio.

Is there a big difference between 195/65-14 and 185/70-14? Nevermind they have 195/65-14

3serious, Do you know if we are allowed to run studed tires?

Also tire size 195/60R14 will be alright for our cars correct?

studded isn't that kinda overkill? i had blizzaks on my ix and it was pretty much unstoppable in the snow.

Yes but you said it yourself, you have an ix. All wheel drive helps a TON. Driving a rear wheel drive car is MUCH differnt.

You'd better be climbing some hardcore ski hills covered in ice to justify studs. They've been replaced by technology now, studs are more detrimental than beneficial to the vast majority of roads.

I do believe that I can get those same one without studs.

If I could avoid using studs I would. They handle weird on dry roads. They don't really go better in the snow, mostly good for ice. I had some Blizzaks once and was very impressed. You need to get fronts and rears so the handling is balanced. Get a set of chains to carry in an emergency if it gets horribly bad out.
