    17x9 W/235-40-17

Hey guys im thinking of going with 17x9 in the rear. Would 235-40-17 be a good fit?
    Any suggestions on sizes ?

I think you might be able to pull it off in the rear.... might give you some rake depending on what you have in the front.

Just noticed you have an '89.... you might need some fender rolling as well.

I am running a 235/40/17 on my 17x7.5 with the earler arches. I get VERY slight subbing, with slightly rolled fenders - more rolling and I Will have more clearance

You have a clear advantage to being able to rotate your tires with the same wheel size front and back. Making your tires last quite a bit longer.
Are you using the same size tire up front just on an 8" rim?

I've got 235/40/17s on my Kopi wheels all around with some fender rolling and I have plenty of room. The 17x9 might fit but it will depend heavily on the offset.

I ran 17x8.5 with 235/40s in the summer with nice roll job and decently stiff suspension, never any rubbing in the back. No rubbing in the front either after I adjusted the fender liner. Early rear arches.

hmmm i dont have the earlier arches. I have an 89 325is. im definately gonna roll the fenders on this one.
Looks like im gonna be the guine pig on this one. Im going to run 17x8 in the front but was debating on the rear. the offset on the 17x9's is 35mm so i can space it out how ever much i need to.
