Will it Float errr Fit, yeah, will it fit.

Alright, I'm sure this has been covered hundreds of times before, but I'm too tired to search so I'm gonna take the easy way out.

I've got a lead on a set of SSR comps for el-cheapo

    4x100 (obviously)
    18x7.5 (friggin huge)
    +42 offset (ummmm)

oh yeah, 17lbs each too

So yeah. Anybody know if these will fit?

And yes, I know I should be for not searching first.

No, you'll need atleast 20mm spacers unless you have an iX.

    25-30mm would be best.

No ix here, What kind of offset would be desirable then? (ie: how big of spacers would I need?)

'cause as much as I'd like to not spend money, I don't think I can pass up $400 for a set of SSR comps.

Depends what you're looking for, more flush with the fenders, or sitting in some?

I'll have to double check my offsets to verify (or you could because i don't really care), i do believe my 16x8 rears are a 52mm offset with a 40mm spacing bring it to a 12 and it's closer to the fender than the strut, same spacing on the front, but i'm unsure the front offset combined since they're 16x7 rather than 16x8. I think it's 52 front and rear however.

They're Porsche 928 wheels, i believe the late offsets (front and rear have dish rather than looking like hubcaps).

Anyway, 20 should be good as far as clearance, 25 should be ideal, and 30 would be pushed out nice with the fenders, may require rolling.

OK, that's basically what I was looking for.

          Thanks a lot.

Of course I'll double check the numbers before I buy anything.

          Thanks again,

My numbers at the bottom are how thick of a spacer you should run by the way.

I suggest finding a place with a return policy if you can just incase you're unsatisfied.

They'll fit, but you will need some spacers. I would get at least 15mm, and no more than 20mm.

With 18" rims, I highly doubt you will be able to get tires with the propper height, so they will be more likely to rub the inner quarterpanels and fender lips. This is why I would only get 15mm spacers. If you push them too far out, they will rub the quarters.

The front strut tubes will likely cause an issue, have you seen the factory 14x6.5 basketweaves at a 30mm offset? There's enough for maybe 3 credit cards between the wheel and strut from what i saw. A 7.5 i'd say with a 27mm combined offset i don't see clearing the front strut.

Yes, I am famailiar with the fitment of the stock basketweaves. I am also familiar with the fitment of 16x7.5s, and 17x7s. I've never put 18s on an e30 though.

I still would not recommend any spacer larger than 20mm for the wheels in question. I would use 15mm since the wheels are so tall and the tires will rub if pushed out too far.

For example, my car has 17x7 wheels with an et40. I am running 215/45-17. Yes, they are taller than stock, so they fit this example perfectly.

I was running 20mm spacers (for a final offset of et20), and the tires rubbed the insides of the quarterpanels badly.
I then had 5mm shaved off the rear spacers, (for a final offset of et25), and the tires still rubbed (but only lightly) under hard driving.
I then had another 2mm shaved off the rear spacers, (for a final offset of et27), and now they don't rub anymore.

I know they are not the same as the wheels in question, but they are similar specs.

Guess you have some more experience than me then. :P

My experience was a 12 total offset with a 16x8 was a good offset for me, but i'm running a 205 tire so it has some stretch (which would kind of be like his 7.5), but i have absolutely no rubbing issue, i did roll my quarters some though, front is unrolled.

Figured a 22ish total offset would be good for him and a 17ish total for optimum clearance after maybe some rolling and 12 if he wanted it more for looks with quite a bit of fender rolling.

Just my .02 from my experience with my wheels.

I'm personally going to space the rear another 5-10mm.

                    Pardon my dirt.

Again, +12 with 16x8 on 205 tires. Hard to tell from the angle, but i have quite a bit of room between the tire and fender and the wheel sits in a bit.

Id recommend the 20mm spacers for best looks. You might have to roll your fenders pretty good, but it will be worth it.

You could probably pull off 20mm spacers in the front with rolled fenders, but in the rear the tire will rub on the inside of the quarterpanel, not on the lip, so rolling them wouldn't even help.
*This is the case when using taller than stock tires, which he will have to use with the 18s.

I know most people running 18's are fine with an et20 18x7.5. I thik your car rubs because your tires are too tall.
The proper size for an 18" tire is 215/35-18. Some of you may be think thats too small, but it the only size that works well on an e30.

for a 7.5" wide wheel, any wheel, ET20 is the ideal offset for a not too agressive, conservative fitment.

Yes, you will have to run 205/35-18 to fit that big of a wheel on your car though. 18x7.5 is a rediculously shitty size. My belief is that the width of the wheel absolutely has to be at least 9/16ths of its height for it to be a good wheel. For example, 15x8.5, 16x9, 17x9.5
