      Offset. The wheels hubs have to be farther out to make room for all the drive bits and steering components on FWD cars. You can usually tell FWD rims because the centers can actualyl stick out flush or beyond the actualy wheel rim and some will have the spokes swoop in to give the look of dish.

      The problem is you will need a spacer (which good ones are expensive) and it looks bland. Since you have a RWD car RWD wheels are great because you can have dish.
      Im now E30less.

        These things have an offset of 40mm offset. Is that really concidered FWD? The stock wheels are 35mm right?

          How are the 5Zigen Copse wheels? They got jsut about everything im looking for. 17x7.5, 35eta, nice 5 spoke look, they seem to be good quality and arent extremely heavy(23.5lb). Although, I'm ashamed that theyre japanese :( Does anyone have these? What do you think of them?

            et40 is defintally a fwd rim.

            stock basketweaves are 6.5 inches wide and have an offset of something like 20.

            if your lookin for a nice 5 spoke look, try and find some mille miglia mmII-2's or some borbet type t's. they are pretty popular with the e30 community.

              If you're going to spend this on wheels, just pick up some SSR comps or some K-1s, new or used. Much, much better wheel...aimed more towards function, instead of form.

                Not a bad m3 either!!!
                get rid of the hood and replace the side view mirrors to stock and it would be nice.

                GO KILL YOURSELF. DO IT FAST. I SUGGEST A GUN>>>>>FAST AND EASY. 23.5 lb is REALLY HEAVY for 17s. AT most you should be looking at rims that are 18 lbs. And what you say that you are ashamed because it's japanese...then why the hell are you looking at them. They dont belong on european cars anyways. Go sell your car and buy a honda you ricer.

                  23.5lbs for a 17in wheel is typical. Not heavy, not "REALLY HEAVY"

                  18lbs is fairly light, how many 17x7.5+ wheels can you name that are under 18lbs? Thats what I thought.

                          17x8 ssr comps are under 18 lbs.

                          In cars that have stock 17" that is probably the actual weight, and may be even more. So i think it's typical in stock cars.

                          Performance wise, there is a lot of manufacturers out there that make 17s equal to the weight of 18 lbs. and less. Forged rims WILL GIVE YOU THAT WEIGHT.

                          And since e30s are not japanese imports, they wouldn't be sporting rims such as MUGEN rims or VOLK racing rims, because i definately know rims from those companies will have 17" rims under the weight of 18 lbs. I could go on about japanese imported rims, but it would be irrelevant to e30s.

                          and u may be right, they may not be REALLY HEAVY. i'll give you that one. But i do think they are fairly heavy.

                            Cast= heavy and relatively cheap.

                            Forged=$$$$ and light weight.

                            But there are cast wheels that are light but expensive. Been discussed many many times.

                              do the mk1's come in various offsets are just the rwd offset. I assume just rwd, but i'd save money for a set of those for the ix, however i don't think it will work out size wise.

                              the only benefit of having an ix is the 40 mm offset wheels all fit perfectly. I was actually looking at some volk wheels. le 37's maybe i am not sure. te 37's are pricey as hell, and a lot of the volks have dual lug patterns which is gay.
