    17x8.5" 4x100 +15 Offset Wheels!

I have this posted on E30tech.com and I thought I'd post it here too in case some of you don't browse the other site...

"There is a group buy on Rota Wheels over at bimmerforums.com going on right now. I am not affiliated with the seller, but there is a minimum of 3 people for them to build a custom offset/color wheel. I'm planning on ordering 17x8.5" Rota D2's (SSR Professor "influenced") in hyper silver in a +15 offset for my E30 318is. The cost would only be $750 shipped! If others are interested please check out the thread at:
Bimmerforums is the preferred online BMW Forum and community for BMW owners. At Bimmerforums, you will find technical how-to information maintenance specifics audio advice wheel and tire combinations and model specific details not found anywhere else. Our professionals are here to help make sure you find the answers you need to your questions and our community is here to help other brainstorm ideas for the future.

I need 2 more people who want the same set-up to make this happen. Again, I am not affiliated with the seller at all, I just want them to make my wheels!"

    Run a higher offset. ET25.

And 18racing.com already has them in 17x8.5 4x100 ET25, non-custom. Just order from there.

et 15 with a 8.5 wheel should fit almost flush with the fenders. you will need to roll your fenders. but if your not planning on stretching some tires on these wheels than your gonna want et 25. you could run 235s all day long with minimal fender rolling with a et25 wheel 17x8.5 either one should look pretty hot

God... why D2s??? Why not Torque or some other better looking wheel? With a 15+ offset, the spokes could sink into the wheel and look beautiful.

I PMed the GB organizer for 17x8.5/10 gloss black with red lip Torques.

My commitment depends whether 1-) they make the wheel in such size and 2-) Do they cheap out and extend the hub backwards, leaving the spokes flat.

If they answer yes and no respectively, I will start persuing others to join the GB.

I think et25 on a 17x8.5 would rub the struts up front. My et20 16x8's are close and others have said to run larger than a 225 up front would need a spacer.

I think a wider rim with more offset would rub with larger tires (or possibly all the time, 8.5 is pretty wide)

I think that extending the hub is what they do for every offset change, its just so much more economical

very true. totally spaced on that. i bet with a 5mm-10mm spacer you would be fine though.but you would be limited to 225s

That's because you run a 16" wheel and not a 17" wheel. 17x8.5 et25 should just clear the front strut with a 235/40 tire. That setup with et22 officially clears with a little room to spare, so I'm pretty sure the extra 3mm closer to the strut would be fine.

et15 is doing nothing but wasting wheel well space up front. If you want to have extra clearance, 17x8.5 et20 will be fine, no need for et15.

I run et20 up front and et15 out back.

Rota does just change the inner hub. D2's are friggin ugly in any offset, the spokes sweep back 90 degrees into "fake" dish (even 8.5" wide, there is no real lip because all they do is extend the hub).

And thanks for backing me up, Chris.
