Members please post pictures and any information regarding your own car that is running 235/40-17 tires on them. I need some ideas on what kind of wheels you guys are running on your cars since I can not find much of anything out there for my 1991 bmw e30 325i (4x100 lug only preferred). I do not have wheels and can not find any that look good at all. I am needing help on what wheels to look for that is available out there for this car. Mystical told me 17x7.5 et35 with 235/40-17 would fit no problem on a lowered with H & R race spring setup with koni adjustables. He said that is what I have to run and would work perfectly. Problem is I can not find any wheels out there that look good and was needing some leads where to find some wheels at.

I can tell you exactly what will work.

Those who are running 235's and wider are using wheels with much higher offsets that Matt did with the Kopis. Here are some good examples of what will work without any spacers:

            17x7.5" ET35 or numerically lower
            17x8.0" ET32 or numerically lower
            17x8.5" ET29 or numerically lower

All of those setups will allow you to run 235/40/17's with jsut enough clearance on the inside. For those who are wondering why mathematically the wheels are getting closer to the inside of the car, it is because the tire width is constant; the 235 will bubble out past the 7.5" wheel, and will be effectively flush with the 8.5".

Hope that helped. And next time (and this goes to everyone) please just ask these types of questions in the Wheel Fitment thread rather than have the information "lost" among the other threads.

            -Jay

With 235/40/17's on the rear of my 1987 325is it would rub with 17x8 et20's even though the fender lips were rolled. If the rims were et25 I probably would have been fine.

I posted this tread not for information on what to run as Jay already helped me with that the other day, but to find what names of wheels and resources to find good selections of wheels for this car. And if anyone would like to post their pictures of what they have on their own car if they are running a 235/40-17 on their car so I can see what that looks like. But mainly I just do not find anything out there from places like tirerack.com or discounttire.com and wanted other places to look for wheels and not the hooptie type wheels either I want the euro look. Sorry you guys miss understood me on this. Thanks, Wes

                  235/40/17 on Kopi Alpina wheels.

Heavy rolling needed to fit these correctly thanks to the low offset of these wheels.
