    17x7.5 and 17x8 wheels

    I'm thinking about using this combo...with a ET22 offset & 215/40/17 tires.
Do you guys think there will be rubbing in the rear?

I don't want to roll the fenders..
I'm lowered on the common H&R/Bilstein setup.

i had 17x8 et23 with 215/40/17 on my e30 for about a year. if your suspension isnt stiff enough, it will rub when u hit big bumps, but 80% of the time you will be fine. if yer on H&R race and billy sports, i think you will be cool.

      Yeah I didn't think it would be a problem..I used to run 17x7 ET23 with 215/40/17.
      Thanks for the input!

        Both wheel widths are ET22?

You'll need to roll the rear lips for sure, it will rub.

Will you really? I'm 16x9 215/40/16 et15 in the back and I never had to roll. But I will give it to you that it's a close fit. I think it would all come down to what H&Rs he has.

It will rub, at least occasionally. The reason the Euroized 215/40/16's work is because they're an inch undersized.

Yeah, but I'm considerably wider (when we're talking about clearance of wheels anything over 8 inches wide, an inch matters quite a bit)

But I think an occasional rub could be expected, under load or with a full trunk.

16" wheels man. No matter how wide the wheel is, the tires are still much shorter; 215/40/16 tires are pretty much exactly 215-wide at the fender edge of an E30, no matter how wide the wheel is.

17x8 with proper sized 215/40/17 tires on the other hand, are still wider than 215 on a narrower wheel at the bodywork (due to the taller wheel and tire).

I'll take your word for it. I have slowly been moving up (14s, 15s, now 16s), so I have no experience with 17" fitment.

I'll take your word for it too Mystikal.
What about ET23 or 24??.... I want the offset to be as low as possible without having to roll the fenders.

I used to have a set of 15x7 Hartges that were ET24...wouldn't mind that but it would be even better if I could fit a ET23 offset with 17x7.5 front and 17x8 rear.

I have H&R sport with Bilstein sport shocks.
The front suspension also has spring hats..

Currently I have 16x7 wheels with an Et20 offset and wimpy 205/50/16 tires.

I want to go back to 17's and this time they will be lightweight & forged...

Good/low offset require fender rolling and tire stretching.

I do not think Et24 would require fender rolling.
I'd rather have 17x7 wheels if it got to be any higher of an offset.
With 17x7 you can easily run a Et22 offset

If you're willing to sacrifice width so much, why are you fighting over offset anyways?

Either way, I rolled my fenders with a hydraulic jack pole and it came out fine. No pulling, just slight rolling.

Wait, this is custom work? For the love of...

17x8 ET28 all around. 215/40/17 to be ultra safe, 235/40/17 all around if you're manly.
