    Offer your wheel/tire suggestions for:

    A 1989 4dr 325i - white exterior. Going to be lowered first with H&R sports/Koni Yellows + camber, etc.

What reasonably priced wheels would look amazing on this car? What tires would you add, including size?

These will be summer only tires/wheels.

    Thanks!

Direct fitting popular choices are (I would attempt 225's on all of these, most guys just do 205)

    kopis 17x7.5,
    ronal LS 15x7.5,
    IE minilite replicas 15x7

      Personally, I like 17s best on E30s.

If I were to do it over, I would go 5 lug first, then find a wheel that I liked, then BBK would be easier.

Yeah, I'm going to stick with 4-lug.

Are the ronals available in 16's or 17's?

I like both of those first two options. Keep the suggestions coming!

almost any mesh/weave looks fantastic on these cars. BBS owns me.

i'm also partial to a clean 5 or 6 spoke; the simplicity is hard to beat. the rota slipstream is available in 16x8 to fit our cars; also the kosei k1 (if you can find 'em used) is a popular choice.

another suggestion: if i had a white e30 i'd consider rocking storm-trooper style, black wheels/polished lip.

I'm intrigued by the idea of black/polished lip, but I wonder what wheels are available that wouldn't make me look like I'm trying to look "pimp". Something still classy, like the ronals. I know porsche pulled it off in the late 80's early 90's.

i know people have had those ronals refinished with black centers and they look the business.

the rotas i believe are available as black/polished from the get go. they're definitely not pimpy looking.

I kinda like the gunmetal colored ones on white. The black ones don't do it for me though.

but then what would you do with the rarest set of e30 wheels known to man?

For a street car I would go with 17's as they look the best, but the ride is more harsh. Here's a pic of my wife's 325is with 17in Kosei K1's, they arent too expensive and they are fairly light. Also in tht catagory is Team Dynamics wheels, Pro race 1 and 2, light and cheap. I would consider one of these as they are cheaper and wont rob acceleration from your car. Bimmerworld.com has them.

As for tires, I was a bit dissapionted in BFG KDW's (but that was the old tread pattern) very spendy and not any better performance than cheaper tires. Falken Azenis (again, the old tread pattern, but I heard the new is very similar) was the fastest street tire I have owned (in the dry...scary when wet), even faster than many R compounds in autocross conditions. But they dont last all that long. I just corded a set of Kuhmo MX tires after 20,000+ miles, and that even included 1 track day and 3 autocrosses on them. Not quite as fast as Azenis but they had plenty of grip, a good stiff sidewall, did reasonably well when it rained, and lasted longer. Not the cheapest tires, but not the most expensive either. I just bought a set of Yokohama's Parada Spec 2 tires in a 215/40/17 for the K1's and I have barely scrubbed the mold release of of them so I don't really have any immpresions of them yet except that the price is not bad at $84 per tire and the 300 treadwear will likely allow for longer life.

Kopis and Ronals are good looking wheels but so overdone and ordinary. Most run 215's on the Kopis and 225's on the Ronals.

Go with something different not cooker cutter.

Overdone on this site maybe, but I don't see either on a regular basis in the real world. They just represent affordable, easy fit, well tested wheels.

I know I should have kept my BBS RK's, now that's unique these days.

Overdone period for the reasons you mentioned, it's no wonder why they
are popular. Whenever I go to any e30 meets, they are by far the most common wheel, that's real world. Not only on this site but they are even more common across the pond, check out e30zone sometime, it's crazy how many e30's are on Kopis.

I compiled a quick collection of e30's on Kopis just on this site, :D

I like when people do something different instead of the usual cookie cutter mods that we are all used to seeing. If we all did the same thing to our cars it would get extremely boring don't you think?
