    Kumho Ecsta SPT

Need to replace two tires since I got a bad flat on one of them. A tire place recommended these to me. My tires currently are Dunlop FM901s which I like but are NLA. Size is 205/55/15.

What are you opinions on the Ecsta SPT? I go to the autox a few times a year but not a lot. I liked the way the side of the tire looked on my Dunlops too.

How are the BFgoodrich g-force sports and Dunlop Direzza DZ101 in comparison to these and the ones I currently own?

i have the spt in 205/55/15.
they are a good tire for the price.
i have to really throw the car in corners for them to loose grip.
they are unexpectedly grippy for how cheap they are.

but my only complaint is that the sidewalls are very weak.
you have to run them at near max pressure to get good response.

The SPT is a great tire for any dollar amount. Compared to the Yokahoma es100's they grip just as well and actually grip well in the rain. Tire wear and road noise are also excellent for this grippy of a tire. If you are running less than a 7 inch wide wheel, I would suggest a 195. Its a fat 205, closer to 215 even on a 7.

I've had some experience with the G-force sports and DZ101, simply put there not in the same class of tire.

        Here is a couple picture's of 205/50/15 SPT's on a 15x7... pretty meaty

          SPT:

The Good: Quiet, long-lasting, cheap, extremely good dry as well as wet traction, very comfortable.

The Bad: Sidewalls that just simply aren't as capable as the compound.

Basically, if you're someone who doesn't driver harder than 8/10ths most of the time, you will love them. If you are competing or frequently flog your car very hard (I'd hope on a closed course, but in any case) you will be a little disappointed with the handling. They can get a big sloppy at the limits. Still, despite this downside due to their otherwise steller performance I still highly recommend them.

i think i have close to 5000 miles no the tires now, still plenty of tread left.
but i recently noticed that it dosnt say "ECSTA" accross the center anymore...:(

yes, they are great in the rain, you can tell by the tread design.
but if you drive through standing water (at 70mph :)), that surpasses the tread depth,
you will get a lil hydroplaning, but that is true for any tire.
its a very good rain tire

these tires are as good, if not better than the es100s that ive had.
overall i love the tire, its just the sidewalls that turn me off.
but if you get lower profile tires, and dont mind running max psi all the time.
this will be an awesome tire for you

Sounds good. Thanks guys. I probably do, max, 4 or 5 autox a year so I should be fine. I usually inflate the tire to 40 psi when I go too.

Definitely a good amount of grip especially for the money but the sidewalls are weak.
