    Are there any 17x8.5 4x100?

I need to get to 17x8.5 wheels for the race car. Are there any 17x8.5" 4 lug? We're committed to cutting and flaring the fenders to get 245's under there. We can also run spacers. Willing to buy used or new so if you have a set, especially a light weight set, please let me know.

    Rob.

Holy crap thats a light wheel...doesn't look that bad either, minus the multilug, but oh well.

Wow, that's a great lead... We may go staggered given that the car has no understeer with the 225's up front. 17x7.5 in front with 235's and 17x9 with 245 or 255 in the rear. Now I have to figure the offset!

This allows me to get to 245+ rubber without going to a 5 lug M3 conversion. The UUC BBK should work great as well.

Another cheap option: Rota D2 17x8.5, ET25 (also ET20 available IIRC). 18racing.com can get them.

Just a friendly warning though: You'll be eating up wheel bearings. One of the greatest benefits of going 5-lug is the much beefier hubs, because ocne you throw big huge rubber on a 4-lug car and put some track mileage on it, you'll be replacing wheel bearings quite often.

i wonder if Alex has figured out a way to get around this, or does he just change the bearing after every few track days....

Considering the cost of the conversion plus the higher cost (2X) of the M3 parts I can go through a lot of wheel bearings before that's an issue from a cost standpoint.

For sure, if you're willing to wrench the cost isn't too bad. Apparently the M3 bearing will last more than twice as long though (i.e they're worth their pricetag).

I'm not too worried about wheel bearings considering I pulled the M20, built and installed a turbo M42, and have completly redone the suspension (inculding coilovers).

One other factor in considering the Return On Investment (ROI) for the 5 lug conversion is the time it takes to recover that investment and what else I could be doing with that money in the mean time. M3 strut tubes, hubs, brakes, as well as the proper rear trailing arms were looking at between $1,500 and $2K. Even if I were able to do it for $1K and then cut the replacement of wheel bearings from 4 sets a year to 2, it takes 2.5 years before I make that money back.

Wheel bearings are a wear item and we expect to replace them.

Absolutely, you don't need to outline the cost benefits. I'm just giving you a heads up so you're not caught off guard.

Thanks. It's a good point: Add wheel bearings to the spares kit.
