    Proper care for new wheels?

I just got my new wheels yesterday, 16x7 gold Konig Remembers. They're the first brand-new wheels I've ever owned, so I'd like to try and keep them looking good. I won't be driving the car in any kind of inclement weather, so road salt, things like that won't be an issue. I've read a lot about different kinds of wheel cleaners being too corrosive, damaging to the clearcoat, etc. I've also heard of things like wheel wax, protectants, and the like, so I'm wondering about the best way to go about detailing them and keep them looking good for a long time. Any help is appreciated!

I clay bar'd and waxed them every so often. You can tell they need
attention when shit starts sticking to the lips.

Wheelwax, two coats on front wheels, one coat on rears. Wash once a week or every two weeks.

Reapply Wheelwax every 3 months. Its great stuff, cost $10 at AutoZone.

Isn't wheel wax just wax? I just use whatever I wax my paint with.
Although I know this detailer who swears by Duragloss marine sealant, I'll be throwing a coat of that on my daily drivers before winter since I live in the rust belt.

I picked it up, says it is a wax made specifically for wheels...it does its job well! I rinse them with just water and a soft brush sometimes quickly, then after that I may soap them every two weeks to clean them off.

What's the waxing procedure like for wheels, especially weaves? Apply and buff, just like the car? I bet it takes forever!

Apply and buff...yes, thats one of the reasons it took so long to get them on the car :(

Its well worth it for easier cleaning though.

I'm sure. What's the best method for applying and buffing, just a few microfiber towels? Any special doodads that might help?

I just use my regular wax for the paint on my car for the wheels. Although I can only imagine what kind of pita it will be to do the remimbers but I would do it for sure every few months or depending on how often you use wheel cleaner on your wheels. But with the wax on the wheels it will be a ton easier to keep them clean.

I used a metal polisher (Adams #1 and #2) to bring the shine out of the lips after doing some sanding and woolpad use, then added wax to the lips, then the centercaps, then the inner pieces. This was after cleaning!

Use a wax applicator pad, or a microfiber towel would work also, then wax to a haze, then polish it out. Repeat!

                              Good luck.
