Avon Tyres are very commonplace with the Cadillac crowd. Just look for the yellow stripe on the tyre on a STS.
Back to US english.
I have not seen them on anything other than a Caddy. I do know Heafner, a huge distributor that is what the former Winston tire wholesale division carries them.Comment

They have been around a long time, and I've heard nothing but good things about their race tires, so I say go for it as well.Comment

I wouldn't bother with the review of tires. Most people think the FZ4 was the best tire out there.
And don't judge a companies race tires with their street tires. They are not at all the same. Kumho makes a great race tire but some of their street tires suck donkey dick.
Just based on the fact that I don't know any autocrosser that has ever owned a set, Makes me not intrested. They might very well be good street tires for a DD though.
The Kumho SPT has been known to be a great summer tire and do very very well in the rain. And they have them in the 215 35 18 for $100.00 (if that would work for you). I'd trust this tire before the little tread block that are on the M500.
The 215 40 17 is 90.00 each as well for the SPT.Last edited by joshh; 10-24-2007, 05:36 PM.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

if i was going to go with Kumhos, i would rock the MX again. i liked them alot.IG: @Baye30

Damn, nice prices.
Good luck with them. At least you've had a good tire like the MX's so you can judge the M500's based on them.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

Just have to ask, did you Avon lady tell you about them?
lol - Just had to. I seriously don't think I could have tires made by Avon on my car. I would think makeup every time I'd see them.Comment

The M500's are NOT good tires. Very poor performance, bottom of the barrel for summer tires.
No joke, the SPT's are rated MUCH higher in the testing I have. And I don't think I'm the only one who thinks SPT's are actually more capable all around than MX's...
Edit: Just noticed you meant the M550, which is their all-season. It's also not very good. The ZE-912 does everything better.

Also, I decided to take a look at Tirerack for you to suggest some options. The cheapest alternative, the Sumitomo HTR+, is actually better than the M550. In placed 9th.
What I also noticed in my search was that the M550 isn't made in those sizes. The M500 is. Now which one are you talking about?
