Now to be more topical, since I'm willing to give you a second chance.

18's on a e30 are huge. You will need a very aggressive suspension and fender rolling to fit large wheels and tires. My old e30 wore 18x8.5 wheels with 245/35R18 rubber all around. I had the fenders front and rear rolled to the absolute max you can before you start flaring the metal outwards. There was NO room for addition wheel/tire width on either side. You could not fit a sheet of cardboard between the tire and wheel well tub on the inside, or the tire and inside fender lip on the outside.

Fitting a 9.5in wide rear wheel will require serious flaring and clearance of the fender arch. There is zero room on the inside so that full extra inch of wheel with will have to go outwards. This will leave you with about 3/4in of wheel past the outside edge of the fender lip. Proper tire size for a 9.5 is 265 or 275. Fitment issues entirely aside I don't understand why you would want that much rubber/grip on a car you don't want to be sliding.

I know more about e30's then you could ever hope and dream too, I'm also moving to Houston over thanksgiving weekend. You would be well served to:

A.) Take the shit people dish you. You are new, its standard operating procedure.
B.) Don't make stupid threads or claims to garner yourself extra shit.
        C.) Befriend local e30 guru's.

FYI, Slander is spoken word, Libel is written. Neither is going on in this thread.
Also FYI, your behavior is well on track to getting flamed/IP banned off the forum. Don't act like a douche and you'll be fine.
well thanks for the lesson, definately not trying to get kicked off, s far as taking "shit" im completely fine with it. "standard operating procedure"! lol too funny but im really starting to feel thats true!:(

i just dont apreciate others doubting. well, realizing that wont change i will definately have to get use to it.

im pretty sure you all know more about BMW's than i do, thats why i am a member to this amazing forum, i really dont think ill be here if i knew more than all of you. even tho whats said is harsh its extremely helpful and im grateful.

money where my mouth is? i'll try putting it where my keyboard is. ill be posting pictures n stuff soon enuff (when i get all my shit together). i mean all this is making me want to finish it even faster.;)

I got lucky, my car came disc swapped.

And, thanks for turning things around before this thread got to page 8.

Just decided to move onto something else. Bought my 99 m3 with money to spare, kept that for about 10 months then went back to a e30.

Most threads that start like this turn into a 8+ page flame fest until the original poster is inevitably banned from the forum.

well, thats bad. lol thats not what i planned on getting into. not to keep getting off topic, but did you have plans for your M42 before you bought it? y not 325?

back on my subject, what suspension setup is best for 18"? i mean i really dont want any up/down travel at all. just complete stiffness. i have these shock absorbing spring loaded seats custom made for the E30. they're pretty much OEM seat from the look of it. then i have a custom steering wheel mount that alows it to adjust with the seats. it feels really comfy. but anyways i say all that to say that stiffness in the springs dont matter. i really wont be feeling bumps with this seat. EVERYthing will be re-inforced.

You like replacing glass? All that "stiff" suspension will take a toll on the remainder of the parts that "soft" suspension was designed for. Be prepared to replace all sorts of bits that shouldnt break regulalry.

For your purposes look into a coilover kit from GC with Koni SA's.

I'd recommend some pretty stiff spring rates, at least 550f/650r

Honestly though.. to address a previous post of yours... this is not the car you want to do this too. By your own admission it is already completely consumed by rust in numerous structural areas. Find yourself another good clean shell to build off of.

The m42 in this car won't be staying in it. I bought it because its a nice very clean and straight car. It has a big future ahead of it.

thats good to hear about your 318. i apreciate the opinion but thats more the reason to do it. to address the rust i have to replace some metal and while im at it i might as well reinforce everything for rough roads and stiff springs. sound proof it all and such. i like how the project is going so far.to me its just as much work as trying to restore it to stock.
