    wheel stud question

I searched around and didn't find anything on this. I've got a recently installed stud kit, and it works great - however, the studs aren't coated/stainless. The exposed tips are getting rusty (as to be expected).

What do you guys use to keep them clean and rust free? I've considered sanding the tips a bit and dipping the ends in POR-15 or similar.

I don't think that would be a problem. As long as everything is torqued down... you'll be fine.

Sounds good. I'll try some krylon anti-rust first since i have it sitting around. If that doesn't work, I'll get some por-15.

I'm not going to coat the whole stud, just the ends so they don't get as nasty.

por-15 is pretty thick stuff. If you put that on the end of your studs, getting the lugnuts off is going to be a PITA.

good point. the krylon stuff is a lot thinner. Maybe I'll spray some in a cup and use a small brush, so I only get it on the head and not the threads.

I plan on doing this with the wheels/nuts etc off the car ;)
