    3 piece wheel tire mounting

I can't find any place that will mount tires on my RS's. Do I have to go to a special place to get this done? NTB and Town Fair will not do it.

The dealer will mount and balance on them for 160, thats absurd.

Any good tire shop can do it. they are just don't want to be liable for damaging them if they screw up.
The last shop I worked at had a tire machine and I've mounted my share of tires onto 3-piece wheels.
Just keep asking around at the shops in your area.

Every place told me they don't have the equipment and implied that the wheels will blow up if they tried to mount on them. But they didn't even know it was a three piece wheel until i told them. so would it be dangerous if i didnt even tell the mounter if it was a three piece wheel?

They can do it. They just don't feel confident enough to do them without somehow scratching/damaging them.
If someone doesn't feel confident that they can mount them, find someone else. I don't want anyone touching my car if they don't feel they can do the job.

They think its a split wheel. Those kill stupid people. They don't know it's not the case in your situation. Think Semi-Truck wheels, there would be a problem. Using a good excuse for a lazy moment.

I know this thread is old, but I can't imagine anyone dumb enough to not know if a wheel is three piece. That's just crazy. I get my tires mounted at Rent-N-Roll. They can do anything, hence them renting 26's to Escalade drivers... Sounds kinda ghetto, but if it gets the job done, why not?

Edit: damn I just checked and the closest RNR to you is in Jersey. lol nevermind...

its not the scratching or damaging that is the issue, its that the force used levers against the underside of a wheel and in some cases you can upset the seal between the pieces causing a leak.

The other problem is the outers on 3 piece can quite often be pretty thin, there was a thread a little while back about someone having them bent, so you can end up putting a buckle in the wheel.

However, if you are a good fitter, you can minimise these problems, so you can fit them without too many problems. Make it clear they arent steel split rims you are talking about though, many people run screaming at the mention of those wheels and people have been killed over the years when fitting them.
Just a little project im working on
