    Work varianza

I am on the verge of ordering some new wheels for my e30 and along with the unselfish and much appreciated help of Mystikal I have come down to the final decision. Just wanted to put this out there for your opinions.

I am ordering the Work Varianza wheels in black chrome
Front: 4x100, 18x8 et22, front setting for big brake clearance with Toyo tires 205 35 18
Rear: 18x9 et22, rear setting for stagger and bigger lip with 235 30 18

The other tire combo option is 215 35 18 for the front and 225 35 18 for the rear. At these sizes, it will give me more sidewall and be at the stock size.

What I am looking for is the widest tire/mag combination for my car. The car is in the bodyshop right now so I am flattening the fender lips on both the front and rear fenders to fit the new wheels. My question is +22 the right offset? Mystical is telling me to make them et25 front and rear, but I want to have the rims as far out to the flattened fenders but not rubbing and Work is saying et22.

    Any comments? Thanks!

Is that good? or bad? Should I stick with et25?

So I put the order in with et22, fingers crossed! I hope they will fit. So it will take 6 to 8 weeks to arrive, I hope to get the car on the road by mid march....

I will post pics with the new wheels, stereo and supercharger... I know that I am really bad with this picture stuff!

So I finally got off my butt and over to the bodyshop and physically measured the clearances. It seems in the rear, using a 17x7.5 et20 rim as a guide, I still have an additional 40mm clearance from the edge of the rim to the rear shock tower and about 10-15 mm space from the rim to the front edge of the fender, but I have to flatten the lip. I figure an 18x9 et22 will protrude an additional 17mm from the 17x7.5 rim, which would be too much. So Jay (Mystikal) is right. An 18x9 et25 will extend an additional 14mm from the 17x7.5 rim which, in theory, if I flatten and possibly widen the rear fender lip, it will fit. Barely.

The front however, seems that the 18x8 et22 will fit as long as I flatten the fender lip and there is still a small amount of room. When I measure the clearance using the 17x7.5 et20 as a guide, there is about an additonal 7-8mm of additonal room. So an 18x8 et22 will extend 4mm more than the 17x7.5 et20 rim, and thus should fit and give me a few mm of breathing room.

So I am ordering a 18x8 et22 fronts and 18x9 et25 for the rear. Fingers crossed and pictures to come when they arrive.

            Comments? Anyone?

OK great. Talked to the supplier and it looks like the Varianza cannot fit my car with the BBK and they do not make 4x100 in chrome. So now I am going with my second choice. I am thinking of the VS-XX in either the silver finish with polished lip or full chrome. Not sure yet and will decide by the end of the week.

What is the common thing nowadays? Going full chrome or silver paint with polish lip. I am leaning to chrome, but I still like the painted finish. The gold is out of the question cause the car is calyspso red (burgundy).

              Comments? Full Chrome or Silver?

Really? I just don't know why all lot of people hate chrome. All my local guys are telling me to go silver paint too. But man, I always had chrome wheels!

go polished if you want shiny. chrome looks (and is) heavy.

Personally I'd stick with silver too.

Actually I changed to Work VS-XX and finally I ordered Forgeline MD3P

I ordered them in Silver with the polished lip. But now I am thinking I should have ordered them in the gun metal finish. My car is burgundy (calypso red)

Which one do you guys think is nicer on a burgundy car?
