Best wheel size to have good selection of tires?

Just seems there are some good tire sizes for the E30, but in each particular size, there doesn't seem to be alot of variety.

there's a pretty decent selection from 14-17", but it seems that the widest array of choices are in the 15s... including the most race tire selections.

There seems to be less choices but good options in the 16s too, like falken azenis etc.

^See thats the thing, I love the stance on 16's, but there seem to be very few 215/225 options, although the few are good options.

I guess what makes me nervous is that if there is only a few size, that means demand is low for that size and then possibly they will be dropped in the future.

The easiest option is to hit up Tire rack and search for each size in the range your looking at, you'll get a total # of tires for each size.

Have done it. Just can't make a decision.

Guess I should have included I'd like to say STS legal, so no wider than 7.5" wide, and no tire wider than 225.

Who knows, I may say screw it and go back to the original idea that's no Auto-X friendly and pick up a set of weaves and put some RT-615's on them.

Totally depends on what kind of tire you're looking for.

            R-comps: 15"
Aggressive street: 17" (I'm not kidding)
            Daily street: 15"

That said, you can easily find at least one good tire in each size. Except maybe the R-comps, they're a bitch.

              Fastest (my opinion): 215/45/16 RT-615s.

                ^Then now I need a good looking, lightweight 16 x 7.5"

                Suggestions?

                    You're killing me smalls!

Fine, I'll just get some Team Dynamics, powdercoat them white, 18 x 7.5, slam it on the coilovers and go for the old school DTM look!

EDIT: Scratch that, looks like the only is 18 x 8! Damn!

I would get TD Racing wheels and put 225/50/15 Toyo RA1s on them. Perfect Auto-x setup.

                        Wouldn't a 225/45 be perfect on a 16" wheel?

Well yeah, but no one asked that question. :p

The RT-615 only comes in 215.

I have the 14" RT-615, and granted I am very satisfied with them, there still is the option between the Ziex 512 ($101), or a BFG g-force KDW($153).

Except the ra1 is less than a perfect tire for autocross.
