Yeah, I was just pitching shit.

I rolled my fenders using the Eastwood fender roller, which I own one of.

Not my pic or car, BTW.

The process is rather invasive. I have rolled about 8 (or so) cars. Only one of them DIDN'T crack the paint. That was a new G35 on 19's.

Mine is rolled 100% in the front, fenders pulled out about 1.5" or maybe a bit less. By rolled 100%, I mean the fender lip is totally flat against the fender. It was not all that tough, but it is a bunch of work.

is it possible to roll the fender outside? instead of folding it under and flat, pull it out, then make it straight?

also, how do you "pull" a fender? just a hammer on the inside of the fender?

it would probably be impossible to pull the lip out and flatten it where the crease is. it also won't look right and make the sheet metal really weak and prone to dents. I was working on pulling mine, I started but its not out far enough. with these cars if you heat up the metal with a heat gun and just work the roller enough, the metal is soft enough to pull out.

i am doing the same thing, 16x7.5 wheels 20mm spacers and ix flares.
with the flares you can cheat and just trim away some of the fender since it will be hidden under the flare

                  rolling fenders

would it be easyer since of the flares to just cut the outer lip that is usually bent under with the rolling process ?

yes and no. by cutting the fender you will loose some of the strength of the fender, but it is all behind the flare so if you hit/got hit in the flare it would bend easier, but you would have already fucked up the flare first.

if you roll the fenders behind the flares you wont be able to see any high spots/or cracked paint behind the flares. you should eventually take care of the cracked paint as water can get behind it and cause rust. if you live in a pretty dry climate, it can buy you time until you can address it properly.

does that make any sense to you

we used to do it at the Porsche shop with 3-4 people and a series of progressively larger dia. wooden sticks.
start with a big rake handle, shortened. have 3 people push the car and 1 person jam the stick in between the tyre and the fender and roll it backward or forward (whichever way the car is being pushed) with the tyre from the front to the rear of the fender opening.

we would then step up to 2 different wooden baseball bats cut in half (since they are tapered so you can choose how much flare you want) depending on how much flare was needed. repeat the process until you get enough clearence

we always repainted the fenders afterwards though, most of the time you really fuck up the paint

i couldn't tell you for sure, it all depends on your rim offset, tyre size, etc.
just because one brand of tyre fits in a certain size don't be sure that all of the tyres of any manufacture will fit. there are differences in size/shape from brand to brand in the same size.

OK, so here is the deal. You bolt the fucker to the hub (after taking the tire off, of course) then begin adjusting. You need to adjust the angle and the depth...there are several adjustments on the thing. Then, you begin moving the roller back and forth, tightening the handle every pass or two, so you progressively roll the fender lip under.

If you continue tightening, you can stretch the fender outward quite a bit. By this time, the thing is massively distorting your fender on each pass, yanking your suspension around too...make no mistake, this is a bunch of violence!

Speaking of violence...heat gun, duct tape, masking tape..it is all bullshit on an E30. All paint cracks, get ready for it, deal.
