    It's tire time(suggestions, Ventus R-S2 Z212?)

Since I am getting new wheels, I will also be getting a set of new tires to go with them.

I had Falken Azenis RT615s on my old car and loved them, but they don't make them in the size I need. So apparently the next best thing is the Hankooks.

First off, let me say I do not autocross(regularly or competitively at least) and do not care about coming within .1 second of the national champion or anything like that. I just want something grippy I can have fun with. I would like to go to a few track days, and maybe an autox here and there, but most of my driving will be on the street.

My only concern with the Hankooks are I have heard they have a soft flimsy sidewall. What I am wondering most is: Compared to what? It's safe to conclude they are flimsier than the Azenises, but how about compared to a typical sport tire, say, a Pilot Sport or BFG KDW? In addition to this, if anybody has any recommendations for similar tires throw them out there.

    Cheers

How about the new Dunlop Z1 Sport Direzzas? Tirerack did a comparo and they came out pretty well.

I was just looking at those, but sadly they don't come in the size I'd want them in. :(

Forgot to mention: Tires are going on 15X7" wheels, want to keep stock OD. So 225/50/15 or 205/55/15

I like my BFG KDW's. They're pretty responsive in the dry and they definitely are nice in the wet.

I have gone through two seasons with the R-S2s, and they're a great choice for a grippy tire. The sidewalls aren't as stiff as the Azenis, but they're not butter either. I really enjoyed them. That being said, I'm trying the Azenis this year.

Thanks for being so thorough in your tastes, makes my life easier.

Yes, the R-S2 sidewall is flimsier than Pilot Sports or KDWs. Since you just want a nice fun tire, I suggest one of the two BFG models available. The KDW and the G-Force Sport both have excellent sidewalls and are very fun to drive on. The KDW is stickier in the wet, and the G-Force Sport is quieter. Treadlife between them is identical.

Thanks for the replies. I have decided to go with the BFG G Force Sports.
