    Wheel Offset

Hey folks! Quick question, will an offset of 35 fit on an e30 without any rubbing? If I remember correctly, stock was 31. Thanks folks!

Yes they'll fit but they will look horrid without spacers.

If your car is lowered it will look even worse. If you do decide to get them or decide to put them on, definately invest in some hefty sized spacers.

I've read on these forums that all of our cars except the ix have 35 offset. Tire rack states they have a 31 offset which is right? So you say the 35's will sit in too far. We don't want that! Thanks folks.

Also, cool Sig pic maluco. When I was in Munich last year I went to the BMW museum and I saw an engine that looked a lot like that.

The E30's have offset 20 if I remember correctly, at least the bottlecaps. This will all depend on the size of your wheel too.
I was running some 17x7 wheels et35 and they were extremely close to the strut tower in the front, almost rubbing against it. I installed 20mm in the front and 31mm spacers in the back and the stance was awesome with a 1.6 front drop and a 1.2 rear drop, here are a couple pics:

              1. Cars do not have offsets.
              2. Stock E30 wheels range from ET24-ET35.
              3. Tirerack's offset listings do not mention that they ship spacers with most wheels to lower the offset to ET20-25.
              4. Offset is dependent on both width and height of the wheel. Some ET35 wheels will fit, others will hit suspension components. You have to be specific.

I bow down to the almighty wheel expert...

I stand corrected. I guess most will fit but if you're trying to put some et35's that are 16x8 you may have some fitment problems.

Just buy wheels with the right offset. Much easier that way.

                Jay, you're the man.

Wow folks, thanks a bunch. The specific wheels i'm looking at are these... The owner states they are offset 35.

                    lol, thanks guys.

Those wheels are 16x7.5 ET35 Borbet Type E's. I had a set once years back, and they just barely hit the front struts without spacers. That was back in my testing/trial and error phase, when I was compiling the info I use to give advice today.

In order for those to look nice and not vibrate, you'd want 15mm hubcentric spacers. 205/50/16 tires are the safe bet, but you can run up to 225/45/16 with a minor fender roll.
