    One last wheel question...

As some of you may remember I'm trying to build my E30 for STX competition.

There is a poor selection of tires for this class unless running a 17" wheel. My question.

Is the sidewall support difference between 7.5" vs 8" wheel going to be that big of a deal, will it even be noticeable, when running a 235/40 or 245/40/17?

The Falken Hanabi can be had for $110 each, but its 17 x 7.5", that's DIRT cheap for a pretty lightweight 17" wheel. I'd only have to run a 5mm spacer to have it basically perfect.

The Team Dynamics 17 x 8" in that offset would cost $250 each and weigh 20lbs vs 17lbs for the Falken.

If you're using something with a nice sidewall (615, AD07, RE01R) then it's not as noticeable as with more pedestrian stuff. But I wouldn't mount a 245 of any of those on a 7.5".

      ^Thanks!

      I've come to the conclusion that 17" wheels won't warrant the jump until I can get a 17 x 8 and run a 245/40.

The Toyo R1R is supposed to come out in 225/45/16, that would fit on my SSR comps, this month. So I don't think the weight penalty would be worth it just for 235's
