Best way to clean BBS wheels?

    14" original BBS.

Ok, so the guy who owned the wheels before me hasn't cleaned the brake dust for 20 years or left them in a rusty barrel. But wheels were free and cleaned off fairly well, but the are still many places that look horrible.

What's the best way to clean them, and what to use? Maybe even take paint off and respray them? Hard to get between he spokes even trie a dremel and the pressure washer i have (2hp) wasn't powerful enough to remove some of these stuff.

Pee on them. If it can help with athletes foot then it has to be good for wheels.

I would either soda or bead blast them. Soda is great but paint has a hard time sticking to the surface sometimes b/c its so smooth.

Eagle One A2Z Wheel & Tire Cleaner is the best wheel cleaner I have ever used. I get it at Advance Auto Parts. Follow directions plus use a spoke brush. Mine looked bad, but now look new again. Good luck!!

I use Dupont with Teflon wheel cleaner. I'm very happy using that on my Ronal LS.

Castol has a degreaser that works awesome for anything, spray it on let it soak in a minute then spray it of with water. It may take a little scrubbing in areas but the stuff works great. I think you can get it at any parts store.

Brake Caliper Cleaner, don't even have to scrub, and doesn't eat paint.

That's my discovery, stop by your local NAPA and pick it up.

Again, this is not Brake Parts Cleaner, this is specific Brake Caliper Cleaner. Used to spray calipers before ricers spray paint them other colors.

Media blasting is the best way. I've had good luck with glass beads and Starblast.
