The Falken is the highest rated all-season tire (above even Pilot Sport A/S, etc). The ASX is still really good, but the 912 is phenominal.

That said, the ASX is actually quite good in the snow. The 912, not so much. For actual winter driving in a RWD car, I'd go for the ASX.

Would you recommend the 912 over the 512 or vice versa? I can't see a noticable difference in price/features/specs or anything

I'd take Falkens 100x over Kumhos for street tires. When I worked in a high volume tire shop for 3.5 years I saw so many blown up, separated, you name the defect Kumhos that I will never put them on a car that I or someone I care about will be driving!

I would, because the 912 is noticeably more responsive for hard driving. The 512 is still a really good tire though, and it's actually a little better than the 912 in the winter.

Good to know. Cutomer reviews on discounttiredirect.com were not positive about the 512. Over half the respondants said they had extreme wear before 15K, and had to junk the tires. Some had to junk them after less than 10K, even after regular alignments and rotations

But I remember that consumer reports that rated it the #1 tire. So I guess it all just depends on who you talk to.

I think I'll order a set of the 912s though

Yeah, there are wild differences in opinion on them. I remember one thread on here had dozens of replies, all of them crazy different.

I had two sets, one in 215/40/17 and one in 225/50/15. Both were awesome. 912s are even better.

Thought Kumho were made in Korea.

                      I'd say forget them both.
Go for the Hoosier A6 in 275/35/15.

ive been running around on the 912s for a little while [205-45-16] i like them a lot. thy are not the best, but they work when they need to. dont like the autocross [wanted to find their limit] and dont like long fast sweepers.

good in the wet, fine in the dry, not too noisy. i will most likely buy them again, in a larger size.
