Please (yes another) help me decide which wheel and what size

I need new tires like last month but I really want to get different wheels and up the diameter and width a little. I currently ride on stock basketweaves. My car was lowered by the previous owner on H&R sport springs. I don't know how low or anything, but I know they're a fairly common spring so hopefully people here who are familiar with the room I have to work with will chime in. I know 17's will fit because the prior owner had some installed before I bought it. He also had the fenders trimmed on the inside.

Anyway, what DIAMETER/WIDTH/OFFSET do I need and what recommended tire size for the following choices? Also which choice do you guys recommend and where should I order them from?

    - Alpina reps, though I'm initimidated about the 17" size. That's a bold statement with a very tight clearance, and this is a daily driver. I couldn't find a 16" in the replicas for some reason.

    - Minilites, Superlites, Panasports, etc

    - Some good looking basketweaves with some dish

If the roads in your area are decent, a 215/40/17 is the best looking tire size on a street E30, IMO.

            This man speaks the truth.

I've got 215/40s on my 17 x 8 ET 25 wheels. It's going to look even better when I space them out abit.
