    04 Cooper S w/ run flats - ?tion

so i have a 2004 Cooper S with the horrible pierelli euphoria run flats, well i got a flat tire the other day and as bummed as i was i was also happy because it is a good excuse to get new tires (non run flats!!) anyway i bought the car used and the stock S Lite wheels are a little worn looking around the edge i'm wondering if this is because the tires had been previously replaced and the shop damaged them installing the run flats (form what i have read they are a pita to install on the rim) any opinions?

    check it out:

so its obviously in serious need of an alignment so i will be getting that and new tires soon also thinking about getting some new wheels for it, but holding out. i have NEVER curbed these wheels, all the rash seems to be from possibly taking the tires off. any one know for sure? thanks!

wheel into curb is much more likely than that being tire mounting damage. Sure if you have an old machine or don't know what you're doing you can damage wheels mounting tires, but its more of a scrape on the surface of the finish, or a chip where you pry with the tire iron, not a few inches of "curb rash"

GEt the Dunlop DSST or whatever they are. They were the best riding on a few customer cars (stock).

Farbin-Which ones? The sport 01's, or the 5000's? My factory sport 01's aren't horrible, but there are better options. In the next month or so I'll be getting rid of the runflats and installing some 215/45r17 Goodyear eagle f1 all season's.

There's no way a shop would cause that much overall damage installing new tires. That's definitely some curbage.

I went thru four cars with customers bitching about the Cooper's runflats, ride quality, noise, I finally got one of them on the GS-D3's and blew two out on a ladder in the freeway. He went back to his 5000's.
