i've got 17x7 rims, what tires?

so i am looking to put a tire on my 17x7's for my 91 E30, which tires should i do? i've considered the "stretched" thing but is there much benifit other than looks? i want the car to handle fairly well along with sliding around here and there.. the car is only a M42 so not alot of power... but i want opinions and info on tires and sizes.... which will handle better a 215 on it? a 205 on it? or a smaller tire stretched? thanks!

    I have 215/40/17 Yokohama EVS100 tires on my 91 318is.

    Love them.

        215/40 looks awesome on E30s.

        A 205 won't stretch on a 7" wide wheel.

215/40/17 would be the best bet.

            225/35/17 needs at least a 7.5".

I run 215/45/17 on my 17X7's, no stretch.
