Best high perf street tire for bottle caps?

    Yo homez'es

Are Falken Azeni RT-615 195/60/14 still the best street tire for bottle caps? This isn't a DD so it won't have to drive in snow and ice.

Priority #1 is traction under heavy braking. Turbo 'vert pushing a little powa.

    Thanks

Quick addendum, how wide of a tire can you run on a bottle cap?

Call me stupid, but I'm wondering if a 235/60/14 tire from BF Goodrich may work as well?

Need to be careful when putting a wider tire on stock width rims.

Sure, they'll fit. But the side walls will be drawn in to the skinnier rim.
Looks bad for one. Secondly, the side wall will not perform as intended. May even collapse on hard turns.

A good look is when the rim is as wide as the tire letting the side walls bulge a bit as designed.

I find tirerack useful for the specs listed.

      just some thoughts

Fork out the cash and get slicks if your doing track work.

        Or run 205/60/14 Azenis.

205/60 would be the most out of stock bottle cap.

And as far as stock tires, your should go for 195/65. that's the right size from factory. And plenty of great wheels are now available. China bought old designs from all companies and produces decent tires and have the price.

Example are BCP and Michelin, Nankung and Bridgestone.

Danny do you understand the difference between Street Tires, Dot R tires, Slicks?

Also, 195 Tire "A" is not the same as 195 Tire "B".

So based on what you guys have said, I'm leaning towards the Falken Azeni 195/60/14. Vulcan tire has it for $65/each.

Find Falken AZENIS RT-615 tires at great prices, customer reviews and more from the Internet Source for Falken Tires, Vulcan Tire Sales (vulcantire.com). Fast shipping to your home or installer.

The only performance tire I saw in 205/60/14 was the Yokohama ES100, which was discontinued at Vulcan and was $87/each.

                  Discount Tire 205/60/14 Tires

I'm going to do some r3v forum searching for experience on 195 versus 205, so I don't have to ask too many repetitive questions, but any experience from the auto-x, heavy street crowd is appreciated.

This post pretty much seals the deal for me..

If you're sliding off the road in street conditions, that's due to driver stupidity, not something that the car or tires is doing.

The number of positive reviews of azeni 195/60/14 from r3v guys who I've come to think of experienced autox drivers, especially Charlie, helps make the decision.

Except, your stock tire size is 195/65-14.

Why put on wrong size tire? If anything, get bigger than stock diameter tire.

Azeni's are great tire, just get right size.

i ran those in the rear for a while. didn't like it, ended up drifint on them and shreading them to pieces. they were more useful for that. 205/60's is the way to go on stock caps....don't get HTR-200's. cheap, but they stunk.

I had 195/60 Azenis' on my stock weaves for a while. I think for a good grippy street tire, they are hard to beat. I think they were even a bit stickier than my 205/50-15 es100s.

edit: The gearing advantage of the shorter tire is nice as well.

The only 14-inch Azenis 615 available is the 60-series. Other than a slight effect on speedometer reading and ground clearance, shorter sidewall/smaller diameter is usually better for autocross:
                              1. Smaller diameter = shorter gearing for better acceleration
                              2. Smaller diameter = less moment of inertia for better acceleration & braking
                              3. Shorter sidewall = better transition performance
