    Debating on lightweight track wheels

    Hi,
I am debating new wheels and am torn between something old skool looking like Konig remembers/BBS's or (dare i say it) sportmax wheels, or getting some H+R 20mm spacers and then having tons of options for lightweight forged wheels. I really want something like motegi tracklights, Kosei K1's, or even something from Konig. However every thing in 4x100 is 40 offset. Preferably i want to have 245's all around and be at least 16 or 17". Must have, as i have a Big brake kit and need the clearance. I am just finishing up my turbo install and basically have the goal of making a very steetable, trackable car. But still want it to look hot/purpose built.
Would japanese wheels on a German car really be that bad? Opinions?

are you going to be more on the track, or more on the street?

I am asking because light race wheels don't stand up to potholes and many other things you run into on street roads.

I will be tracking the car every other weekend. Basically what it boils down to is that i want all the performance i can get from the car. Overall for the car i will sacrifice a little bit to good looks but really want the best performance for my money. For example, i am not going to remove the bodykit from my car just because if probally adds a extra 50lbs to the car. I like the way the car looks and think its unique. However why keep my A/c system or trunk tar if by simply removing all that stuff I drop about 70lbs and wont miss it one bit. Therefore why pay $1000 for wheels that look good and are appealing to the general e30 crowd but weigh approx 20lbs per wheel, when I can get a strictly performance wheel weighing in at approx 12-15lbs. Though this may not meet most peoples tastes for e30 german styling I think to me and performance wise its worth it.
Really I want to know if you guys think that type of wheel would make the car look performance orientated or like im trying to turn it into a Honda?

check also these wheels. they are made for the miatas though, however i think they can be used and on our e30s. They are lightweight and are the best choice if you can't choose something like the volk wheels that are the most light wheels available

Yup, SSR's suck on the street. Super weak wheels that wouldn't last more than 10-20 miles.

OP, SSR comps in 16 x 7 with 225/45 Hankook RS-2s or Toyo R1-R, if you want lightweight and dual purpose. But the best would be to go with a set of dedicated track wheels and track tires.

Otherwise, lightweight 17" wheels in 4 x 100 that are wide enough for the tires you want are HARD to find.
