Wheels - what should I get?

So, I'm getting my bilsteins in soon and I have my H&R springs, a nice match for a daily driver. But upgrading the suspension really makes me to get new wheels and tires too. I was looking at tirerack which is the only place I found wheels that actually look nice on a 1989 325i. But they're all really expensive compared to the packages I saw at wheelsnext.com, I've my eye set on those Millie Miglia Action's.

Is there anything to wheels beside size and looks? What performance does size help bring lets say between 16" and 17"? Also, how do I choose some good tires to go along with it? Thanks for your help

15" and 17" have the best selection of tires, and 15" are the lightest upgrade (size wise) you can get. easy choice imho.

I have a set of SSR Comps, 7 X 16. They weigh 11.5 pounds, and I like the way they look, but of course, it's a matter of opinion. I use Falken Azena Sport tires 215/45 all round and have been very happy with this setup. The car is lowered about 1.5 ", has Ebach springs, Koni Yellow dampers, and Ireland antisway bars. Ths SSR wheels are a little expensive, but well worth it to me for the very light weight, quality, and apperance. Decreasing unsprung weight is very helpful to all areas of handling dynamics, and reducing a pound of rolling weight is equivalent to removing several pounds of sprung weight. I was never able to find a package that offered the things that I wanted. It's doubtless less expensive if you can. You could take a look at Team Dynamics wheels. Bimmerworld stocks them in sizes designed to fit BMW's.

It's a sweet handling car that is easy to drive under nearly all conditions--no rain, far less snow, is recommended.

      Happy trails,

      Joe

15s look big enough on these cars. I'm planning on euro weaves.
The BMW 318 is back. With a vengeance.

Ronal USA is having a sale on 15" Ronal LS wheels

Ronal USA is having a sale on 15" Ronal LS wheels that ends at the end of the month. I have a set and love them, so I'm biased, but I highly recommend them.

With regard to which size to get (ronal LS wheels only come in 15" for e30's), check out this writeup on the pros and cons:

16" looks just about right. 17" is a little "boy racer". Looks like those damn mini coopers with the 17" wheels.
